Research, Monitoring and Evaluation
Understanding and examining population dynamics and the linkages between population, reproductive health, human rights, gender equality and poverty, among other issues is central to effective population management. A major function of the NPC is to undertake and/or commission research on key socio-cultural and developmental issues that impact on the population. The importance of reliable and timely collection of demographic data for formulation, monitoring and evaluation of development programmes is crucial to socio-economic advancement.
The NPC in collaboration with the Ghana Statistical Service ensures timely collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of data to policy makers, planners and the public at large. The Council also supports the strengthening of capacities of personnel in the field of data collection, analysis, and research to upgrade national research capability in population and development.
